The Horizon Europe projects SYNCHROMODE and ACUMEN invite researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry experts to submit papers for presentation at their joint two-day Final Event, which will take place in Brussels, Belgium.

The event will be dedicated to the future of multimodal, data-driven, and resilient traffic and transport management in Europe, with a strong focus on bridging research outcomes, real-world deployment, and policy-making.

The Final Event will bring together the European transport and mobility community to exchange knowledge, present innovative research and operational experiences, and discuss how advanced traffic and transport management solutions can support sustainable, efficient, and coordinated mobility systems across modes and governance levels. A key objective of the Final Event is to showcase the results, achievements, and impacts of the SYNCHROMODE and ACUMEN projects, demonstrating how EU-funded research translates into tangible benefits for cities, industry, and policymaking.

Scope and Topics

We welcome original research contributions, applied case studies, and position or vision papers related (but not limited) to the following topics:

  • Multimodal and network-wide traffic management
  • Data, AI, and decision support
  • Resilience, simulation, and digital twins
  • Deployment, evaluation, and governance
  • City pilots and real-world implementations

Contributions from other Horizon Europe projects, related EU initiatives, and operational deployments are particularly encouraged. Submissions highlighting cross-modal integration, transferability of results, and lessons learned from real-world implementations are especially welcome.

Submission Guidelines

Papers may be research-oriented, application-focused, or policy- and vision-oriented, and should be clearly aligned with the scope and topics of the event.

Submission Format

Submissions should be made in the form of extended abstracts of 2-4 pages. Extended abstracts should clearly describe:

  • The objectives of the work
  • The approach or methodology followed
  • The key results, findings, or lessons learned
  • The relevance of the contribution to multimodal traffic and transport management

The extended abstract format is intended to encourage contributions from a broad range of stakeholders, including researchers, cities, transport authorities, and industry, and to support interactive discussion during the event.

The call for contributions is now CLOSED

Authors of selected accepted contributions may be invited, after acceptance, to submit a full paper for inclusion in the event proceedings or post-event dissemination materials of the SYNCHROMODE and ACUMEN projects.

Review Process

All submissions will be reviewed by the event’s Scientific and Organising Committee based on:

  • Relevance to the event themes
  • Quality and clarity of the contribution
  • Contribution to discussion, transferability, and practical impact

Detailed submission guidelines and templates for extended abstracts will be made available on the event website. Templates for full papers will be provided to authors of selected accepted contributions, where applicable.
